December 10, 2011 - - Weston & Christy Hinson, after much prayer and consideration and advice from friends, family, pastors and fellow artist, have decided not to hire any additional members at this time. Instead, the couple will retool and abandon the moniker “The Weston Hinson Group” and begin traveling as “Weston & Christy Hinson.” In the past couple of years, though their hearts and minds were always first on ministry, they desired to be a legitimate group with at least 3 parts... not only for that 3 part sound that so many love, but also because duets are not as widely accepted by fans or in the Southern Gospel Community in general. Convinced that this recognition was paramount to success, and that it would assist in opening doors to minister to a greater audience…that was the route they chose. Although they have had the privilege of singing with some very talented people and have had big opportunities, they found God seemed to move more in the settings where it was just Weston & Christy. When asked what they thought could be the reason behind this, Christy says, "Maybe the fact that we know each other so well, and when it's just us, we focus less on the parts and focus on the hearts and we get out of the way and let go and let God."

Don’t mistake their focus on hearts to be a lack of attention to their singing. While singing at their home church, Oasis Church, this last weekend in Caddo Mills, TX, people were applauding Weston & Christy’s talent and ability to blend so well with one another. Everybody in the congregation, from the youth group to the jet setters were on their feet, cheering, clapping, and worshiping the Lord as the anointing was heavy in the building. Weston & Christy say that, "God has put a stronger desire to go deeper with what God wants for our lives." They’re pastor, Barnie Huie, shared something invaluable with them and it really sunk in, "You go deeper in God and He will broaden your horizons."

“We’ve been focusing on widening our borders, our reach, our notoriety, and our agenda for too long now. It’s time that we get back to focusing on deepening ourselves in God, his Kingdom, His Word, His love, and his agenda. That’s what the gospel is about. We are putting the emphasis back on GOSPEL in Gospel Music. It is what this country needs to hear and witness…something real,” Weston reflected as he and his wife came to this decision.

It's not to say Weston & Christy Hinson will never make additions to their group, but for now they say, “God has us where He wants us and we are glad to be here!” This is the beginning of something that God will surely bless!

December 10, 2011 - - Weston & Christy Hinson are currently writing songs for a new album that is shaping up to begin production in the coming months!

October 11, 2011 - - Weston Hinson has announced that he will be going into the studio to record his solo tribute project as a tribute to his dad, Kenny Hinson. This is an acoustic project featuring songs written and made famous by his dad, such as "Call Me Gone." There will also be a bonus cut of the song, 'The Lighthouse", still sang by many artists today and remains one of the most requested songs when Weston performs. This project will be produced by Mark Carman of MCM World Media.

In other news, Weston Hinson Group will be recording their new CD project in the very near future. Christy Hinson, wife of Weston has written several new songs and they will be included. The Weston Hinson Group has many new and exciting things that are happening for them and many doors of opportunity are being opened for their full time ministry.

This group is one you will want to keep your eyes on! With the voice of Weston, blended with the superb harmonies......they are going to be unstoppable!
